Stichting Wageningen Research (WR-RIKILT) has approximately 200 employees and is a non-profit institute conducting research on the detection and identification of contaminants in food and feed, and the interactions of these substances within the food chain. 

The institute contributes to the monitoring of production chains, the quality of agricultural products, and the knowledge of health-protecting substances in food. It carries out legislative and policy-supporting tasks for the Dutch government and international bodies, including the EC and EFSA. The institute has key facilities and infrastructure for high quality testing and its strength lies in its interdisciplinarity and the versatility of expertise and equipment for analytical chemistry, toxicology, microbiology, immunochemistry, microscopy, bionanotechnology and X-omics. WR-RIKILT is part of Wageningen University & Research Centre (WUR) which is widely known for its research into the applications of nanotechnology for the agro food sector.
