UK Research and Innovation

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is a new body which works in partnership with universities, research organisations, businesses, charities, and government to create the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish.

UKRI aims to maximise the contribution of each of its component parts, working individually and collectively. It works with its many partners to benefit everyone through knowledge, talent and ideas. Operating across the whole of the UK with a combined budget of more than £6 billion, UKRI brings together the seven Research Councils, Innovate UK and a new organisation, Research England.

UKRI, through its component organization the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH), has been central to a number of important national and international risk assessment programs for chemicals, the development and refinement of trace metal and nanomaterial chemistry and characterisation techniques including fate and exposure assessments for existing and emerging substances; fate modelling of nanomaterials in river catchment; modelling engineered nanoparticle bioavailability in soils and waters. CEH has a centralised analytical laboratory accredited to ISO17025:2005, and extensive experience in all aspects of the development and refinement of trace analytical methods, including nanomaterial characterisation in environmental samples.
